Costanoan Indian Research, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization located in Indian Canyon, near Hollister, California.

Indian Canyon is the only federally recognized “Indian Country” between Sonoma and Santa Barbara, and has been sacred land and home for the Costanoan Ohlone people for thousands of years.

Our mission is to serve the indigenous Costanoan Ohlone community and our ancestors through ongoing protection and care for our land, traditions, and people; to support all California Indians through educational and cultural programs; and to serve the spiritual needs of indigenous people.

Offering traditional lands for ceremonial purposes, each year we welcome thousands of visitors who honor the native heritage of the San Francisco and Monterey Bay region. We actively participate in global exchange among indigenous peoples, fostering mutual understanding among First Nations.

Our educational programs are rich and varied. We regularly host student groups and offer workshops and cultural events at Indian Canyon. Our outreach activities reach local, statewide, national, and international audiences. We were among the first Native American groups to launch a website in 1994, and we continue to maintain an active online presence.
